• A texting driver is up to 23 times more likely to crash than a non-texting driver. (2009, VTTI)
• Texting while driving is dangerous because it takes your mind, eyes and hands off the task of driving.
• Cell phone use delays a driver's reaction time as much as having a blood alcohol concentration at the legal limit of intoxication.
• This form of distracted driving is especially problematic because so many people do it. At any given moment, greater than 800,000 vehicles are being driven by someone using a hand-held device.
Texting while driving accidents are 100% preventable.
• Thirty-nine states already have laws against texting while driving for all ages.
• State laws banning texting in conjunction with high visibility enforcement campaigns have been shown to be effective. (2010, NHTSA).

texting and driving needs to stop but not only texting but also talking on the phone
Bout time we did something about this. Sick of seeing idiots drifting into my lane while they stare at their laps. 73013
my brother got hit by a guy texting and it changed his life forever, this needs to be a law right now. 74103.
So dangerous. PLEASE make it illegal. 74012
Too many people on their phones on i-40 these days its getting scary out there just put the phone down for 20 mins people 73102

It's great that the telecommunication has advanced so far but to not use it responsibly has proven time and time again to be critical, for that reason I support banning texting while driving and "IT CAN AND SHOULD WAIT"!!
