The focus should now be on how to prevent this from happening again, therefore training that deals with situations like this should be put in place. Mr. Ferrell will not be brought back with another trial but a solution will help.

This case had to be taken to the grand jury twice to indict. And the jury rendering was 8-4 not guilty. They have paid this young mans family 2.5 million dollars. Stop wasting our tax dollars

First grand jury voted not to indict. Jury could not aquit. Their is not enough evidence to prosecute this young man. He is is being held as a scapegoat foe CMPD.

If one truly wants justice then you must ask yourself is it just to hold both a second grand jury and now a second trial? The answer is that it is not just to continue the prosecution any further. Nothing more will be gained by another trial. Police officers will not shoot in a similar situation regardless of the verdict, (and they might suffer the consequences of that response). Persons who see injustice will continue to see it. Justice can best be served by focusing on those things that can be done to prevent such conflicts in the future, not putting a good man through another trial who was a victim of circumstance, training and social factors well outside his control.

The first grand jury found not to indite him, the NC attorney forced another grand jury hearing, and they indited him, Now a jury has deadlocked 8 to 4 in favor of acquittal , it is time to let it go and base laws on facts not to appease specific groups and pervert the laws that are intended to protect all of us.

Any City that will settle a civil law suit before the trial and evidence has been presented has cast a negative light on the officer. They presumed him guilty and hung him out to dry. This was to keep the extremist from reacting in a hostile way. I am ashamed of our former Chief and his cohorts who have tried to railroad this poor officer. Who would want to protect and serve when your own people try to convict you in the court of public opinion. First grand jury didn't see reason to try the case . Then they went looking for another that would give them the outcome they wanted. Sickening!
