This was an unfortunate situation where an officer was being charged at by a large muscular male he thought was previously breaking into a house and had to make a split second decision that others have years to analyze. He is clearly not a murderer.

I believe Officer Kerrick was doing his job. We cannot allow suspects to attack our officers. Anyone in Officer Kerrick's position would feel threatened. If suspects would stop and do what they are told, no one will get hurt. I'm so sad for both families and pray we all learn from this tragedy.

I believe Officer Kerrick is innocent. The majority of the jury felt he was innocent. As an innocent man I feel Officer Kerrick and his Family have been through enough already.

he went through not one but 2 Grand Juries which was unfair, the city threw him under the bus by settling the lawsuit and not they want to retry him? Now that's unjust!

A retrial of Officer Kerrick would be unfair to a police officer who, in my opinion, was proven not guilty at trial and to the taxpayers who would shoulder the cost of another trial.

G.S. 15A-401(d)(2) sounds like Officer Kerrick used this statue for the purpose it was intended for "protecting himself and/or a third party" no re-trial should be needed.
