Yes!! All charges have been dropped against Officer Kerrick. He never should have been charged in the first place. Now CMPD owes this man back pay, the clearing of his name and his badge back. He should also be awarded a large monetary settlement from the City of Charlotte and Chief Monroe for being offered up as a sacrifice. It is absolutely horrible how this officer was treated. Officer Kerrick was completely justified in his actions. Jonathan Ferrell chose to drink, smoke marijuana and drive a car which he crashed. He chose to charge at Officer Kerrick, which by any standard is a threat. Mr. Cooper, do not retry this man, a jury of his peers has already established that this is not a winnable case.

The officer was acting in self defense as he was charged by the young man who ended up on top of the officer in a ditch. This was a violent assault that would most likely ended badly for the cop had he not shot him. He wouldn't have continued shooting if the man had stopped and not assaulted him. Pretty soon who will want to be in law enforcement if the lawbreakers are not held accountable and the cops can't defend themselves!

I support the honest job that police and police officials go through its not their fault that they are the hero's and proud people who keep this country in order. Like it or not these are the people that we, the honest tax payers, not the unemployed folk , are supporting like it or not. So let's appreciate the fact that they do their job. Better than.
