It's a sad and less safe day in these United States and in Mecklandburg County now that Police Officers have to waste precious seconds they do not have in a fluid situation to consider political correctness instead of solely relying on their training and instincts. The fact that a suspect is "unarmed" does not necessarily or automatically mean the lives of an officer and other in the immediate vicinity are not in danger. An impartial view of the evidence in this case clearly shows Officer Kerrick acted appropriately, never should have been on trial, and should never be retried for his clearly justified actions performed within the scope of his service as a Police Officer.

How convenient for our former, (and by many accounts illegitamate) chief of police to throw Officer Kerrick under the bus, then leave town!! Not to mention the fact that the city of Charlotte setteled a 2.3 million dollar civil lawsuit before the case was even brought to trial! Why not just go ahead and throw Officer Kerrick in jail without a trial....might as well.

I do not want the Attorney General to retry Officer Kerrick , whom I believe to be innocent, because he was attempting to do his job of protecting the community. It was not his choice to be confronted by the erratic, unpredictable behavior of Jonathan Ferrell. I believe Mr. Ferrell's behavior was such that Officer Kerrick truly feared for his life.

How do you sleep at night? Sick beyond words of the black lives matter movement. Yes, black lives matter, but so do all other lives. When you're in the uniform, and you wouldn't know because you've never worn one, officers don't see race amongst their peers. They see blue and brown. It's all the outside factors that pull in race. Two CMPD officers, Burnette and Nobles, were killed in 1993 when an "unarmed" man overpowered one, took his gun, and then killed them both. That could have happened in this situation, but the reaction of Wes Kerrick prevented it and the officers got to go home that night. You should be ashamed of your office's actions...and I'm ashamed for you. Remember the old saying, "You have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything?" Looks like you fell for anything and stand for nothing. You did not represent the state, society, or the best interest of anyone other than the Al Sharptons of the world. You're a disgrace to the oath you took Mr. Cooper. Don't re-try this case and please don't run for office again. Officer Kerrick should not be tried again. The video cam shows this large man running toward him- one who had been reported to have attempted a home invasion-and the officer had every right to do what he thought was needed to stop him.

It was wrong for the city of Charlotte to pay the Ferrell family more than $2 million before the trial was heard. Don't waste more of our tax dollars on a retrial that will have the same outcome.
