Our right to freedom of speech is one of our most cherished rights and I choose to exercise that right by sending a clear message to Cobb County Chairman, Mike Boyce. I support Thea Powell and her right to speak openly. I also support the Chairman's right to appoint citizens of his choosing however I condemn the Chairman's actions of silencing those who have opposed him.
UPDATE: Boyce is asked why he terminated his Planning Commissioner. PLEASE NOTE: She doesn't agree with his positions on zoning...Then he says he didn't want to influence her vote but wants someone who agrees with him, To heck with the code, land use and citizen input. All of which Thea always heavily weighted in her decisions.

Thea Powell was the only one to reply promptly, thoroughly and honestly to my questions on a recent zoning issue. She seems to genuinely care about the public's best interests in this county and we deserve a detailed explanation for the reasons she was fired.
Thea should not have been fired from the planning commission for disagreeing with the millage increase. Stalin tactics!
Elected officials who surround themselves with "yes men/women" tend to make poorer decisions. Discourse should be encouraged!
Shame on you. Reinstate Thea. Her argument was non-confrontational and well-researched. Wish all our citizens were that well informed.
The timing of Thea's termination along with Chairman Boyce's actions during Town Hall meetings, silencing his opposition while praising the sheep he led to slaughter. The Chairman's propaganda parade and willingness to mislead the people to get what Boyce wanted shows a Mike Boyce is incapable of providing true leadership. Power has become his master!
Looks to me like Mike did an about face after getting elected.
Amen to that Tom Cheek. She also spent a tremendous amount of time trying to teach Mike the ropes, the codes, terminology and about land use. He rarely paid attention.
