RI Tea Party calls on all taxpayer organizations, good government groups and individual taxpayers to send your statement to [email protected] in opposition against Governor's Chafee's call of a boycott of not only Talk Radio but of the advertisers who support talk Radio. Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation, or both. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and by many state constitutions and state and federal laws. Criticism of the government and advocacy of unpopular ideas that people may find distasteful or against public policy, such as racism, sexism, and other hate speech are almost always permitted. Governor Chafee made this comment this morning, January 13: "When talk radio hosts use harshly divisive language, "The advertisers should shut them down," Please take the time to sign this petition as well as forwarding your statement to the Rhode Island Tea Party. Our media alert will be going out this evening and your statement will be included along with your name and organization. Regards, The Rhode Island Tea Party

I am honestly stunned at how quickly this momentum is building because I really thought people had stopped listening to these kinds of warnings. It feels like the tide is finally turning against this nonsense and I am actually energized to keep pushing this forward thanks to all of you.

Chafee is way out of line here. No politician should be telling businesses who they can and cant advertise with. This is blatant intimidation.

He thinks he can just bully people into silence because he dont like what they say. What happened to the 1st amendment in this state? absolutely pathetic.
