I am disappointed with how the school has handled this. Yes, it’s a private Catholic school. But they have NEVER stated that we cannot express our beliefs. This has become a religious, political, and social issue. During the 2016 election, people wore “Make America Great Again” shirts and hats to school and were not told to take it off. What’s the difference here? Because it’s religious, that makes it ok to discredit someone’s beliefs? Kate is supporting something she believes in. This is what the school teaches us to do, but when we do it, we’re punished. It’s outrageous. We need change. You go, Kate!

I feel as though we all have the right to express our political views, especially in schools that foster women’s voices.

As a proud Sacred Heart alumna and a parent of two Sacred Heart alumnae (Broadway) I stand with Kate. More speech and more ideas, not less, is the key to any great education. Have conversatios and invite and allow different points of views. Challenge (and defend) beliefs. That’s the Sacred Heart that I knew. Pam, your Adminstration has made a mistake here by threatening to kick out this young woman. What about a Planned Parenthood bumper sticker on a student’s car? How far is Sacred Heart willing to go with this?

I thought the Sacred Heart community aimed to educate girls to be able to voice their opinion. Punishing Kate for this is hypocrisy.

Unacceptable that an all-girls school would not support an organization that benefits women. The use of this sticker is protected under the First Amendment.

Condemning opinions is a great way to silence productive conversation. If CSH means to teach their girls to be strong women, part of that involves being able to live with ideas that are different than your own. To be so easily offended is a weakness girls in today's world can ill afford to have.

Standing with a sister in need! This is not okay. We should have the right to practice our free speech and to speak up for injustices. Planned Parenthood is an organization that helps women ( ironic that an all girls school wouldn’t support this)

I do not see how a sticker is adequate grounds for termination. This is a violation of her first amendment rights as an American citizen. Please consider revising.

expelling a student over a laptop sticker espousing a totally reasonable position is absurd. I'm ashamed to have lived in the same state.

FYI. You can both disapprove with abortion, promote Christian beliefs, and at the same time support Planned Parenthood. see: John Kerry. Consider that even the POPE would not leave women who sought an abortion outside of the church's doors. Furthermore, the sticker doesn't say "I stand with abortions". It stands with an organization that provides women's health care for underserved populations in a day and age when they need this support most. Abortions account for 3% of the services Planned Parenthood provides. Also just extra food for though- even if you shut down Planned Parenthood entirely- many women would have the abortion anyway- but sadly they might die from it as they seek alternate and dangerous methods to do so.

First amendment. Freedom of speech. Just saying.
