This is atrocious. There should be no restrictions to not only young adults & their freedom of speech, but none towards young women who feel a certain way.

It is very disappointing to hear how the administration is handling this incident (which shouldn’t even exist). Looking back on my time at CSH I have become very grateful for the values the school taught me. For the institution to react in such a narrow minded and judgmental way towards a sticker supporting an organization devoted to the health and safety of women is outrageous. Simply, you are much better than this. You are hurting the reputation of the school, offending the community, and stifling the students who are currently attending.

Stickers and pictures of Ronald Reagan, Trump and JFK hanging next to every Pope since 1960 are approved by Sacred Heart staff. JFK, a gorgeous hypocrite and womanizer! But expressions of a woman's right to birth control (forget abortion!) is forbidden!?! Sacred Heart is still in the USA. Planned Parenthood is access to BIRTH CONTROL. Neither Planned Parenthood nor anyone I know, woman or man, promotes abortion. Catholics like myself value freedom of speech and women's rights to their own bodies and learning how to prevent a pregnancy, whether married in the Catholic Church, or not.

As a typically proud alum of Sacred Heart, I feel compelled to share how firmly I believe this goes against everything CSH strives to instill in us as young women in and beyond the Sacred Heart community. We were taught at Sacred Heart to have agency, and to use our voices. So to Sacred Heart, I ask you to be better, and if you can't understand one's opinions, to at the very least respect them. Kate, I stand with you 100%.

CSH is a school for women that should be actively working to empower women. As far as I'm concerned, Kate is doing just that and so is Planned Parenthood.

Pamela Hayes' statement is not good enough. The school claims to discourage political discourse, yet there are endless instances of girls with merchandise expressing pro-life sentiments who haven't been told off. If Sacred Heart chooses to be apolitical, they must implement this rule uniformly across political parties and beliefs. The claim that Sacred Heart has ever been fair in their decisions over what they consider "appropriate" is ridiculous.
Similarly, the language used in condemning a sticker cannot be brushed under the rug. The comparison of a Planned Parenthood sticker to that of a Neo-Nazi is offensive and ridiculous. This comparison is ignorant at best, and truly exposes how out of touch and intolerant the administration is.
It is true that the school, as a private institution, can handle this situation as they see fit. But the threats and insensitive comparisons that Sacred Heart has drawn over this conflict show that they view their public image as more important than the education of their students.
THIS IS AGAINST THE FIRST AMENDMENT

As a Sacred Heart graduate, this doesn't sound like the community I know and love.
a petition should not even be necessary.
As a Sacred Heart graduate, I stand with Kate Murray. Period.
2018, people.
Stand up for what you believe in girl!
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Maryland, Class of 2014
I attended CSH, this is not the school I know and love that is limiting a young woman's voice
