I was raised Catholic and it's this sort of behavior that leads many young people to leave the church. Jesus was a practitioner of acceptance, non-judgement, peace and the TRUTH. By being more concerned with opinions of bigoted people, versus learning about an organization which positively contributes to the lives of plethora of women, this extension of the Catholic faith is in fact working against the word of Christ. Ask this young woman where she stands and why, versus silencing her in order to protect your "image." To inhibit the education of a young woman (who already will face so many obstacles in her life because of societal stigma) due to a difference of opinion (one not substantiated in fact for that matter) is grossly irresponsible. We need to do better as community, and particularly in this case, as Christians. Jesus' greatest quality in my opinion was his ability to listen, to love, and to converse even with those who disagreed with his beliefs - this school should take a page out of that Bible.

CHS's response and behavior is completely unacceptable and they need to take accountability for the mixed messages they are sending. You can't empower women by silencing their views if you don't agree with them.

you speak of rules and guidelines - so CSH allow "Make America Great Again' hats and Trump T shirts to be worn to school last November without expulsion but not a PP sticker!! double standards!
How patronising you are saying that ' this girl will not understand until developing a greater level of maturity"! Clearly who have not reached yours!

It's freedom of speech! People are allowed to wear Trump shirts and Reagan/ Bush shirts yet its not okay for a simple sticker! Sacred Heart can do better. You cannot teach students to be open minded and accepting of others beliefs yet they are not doing that.

Absolutely disgraceful. I had my fair share of issues with the way freedom of speech was handled at this school. It was a huge contributing factor to why I decided to change schools for high school. So happy to see Kate is fighting back.

This is not about educating young women, this is about protecting adults. It's shameful for Sacred Heart to attempt to censor this child, and even more shameful to lie to themselves and their students about why they are doing so.
