I am a 1965 graduate of Manhattanville. Joan Magnetti was my classmate as were Sheila Hammond and Paula Toner. Wickie Sheehan was a friend. Pam Hayes' censoring of Kate Murray violates the tradition of principled, informed independence of thought and action that formed the core of my Sacred Heart education at Manhattanville and what I have always understood to be one of the core principles of the Society of the Sacred Heart. Pam Hayes has publicly and rather shamefully violated that tradition by her timidity and her collusion with the diocesan bishop.

Sad hypocrisy. Limited thinking leads to atrocious acts. Has the Catholic Church not learned its lesson? Guide and teach and show.

Women's health is America's health. I've never heard the church complain about Viagra even though ED drugs are a non natural intervention to the reproductive process, thus violating Church teaching. Graduate of a Catholic high school.

I understand that this is an extremely controversial issue, particularly in the environment of a Catholic school. However, an appropriate response might be to convene a discussion over Kate's actions, free speech, and the pro-choice debate. Expulsion is *not* and appropriate response, and unjustly punishes a student for an action that is well within her Constitutional rights.

DO NOT EXPEL A STUDENT OVER A STICKER its amazing to me that this is even a real conversation... First off it is indeed unconstitutional. On another note this topic is one which should not be treated as taboo, sex education should include a full spectrum of information including safe sex practices, which it doesn't always. Teenagers are going to bang regardless of what you teach them, so you might as well teach them the right stuff. They used to give away condoms at my university, now that's some good stuff right there.

I'm sure kicking this student out will resolve all of the school administrators' underlying spiritual concerns about the unborn. It's so inspiring to see religions condemning their own; I bet lots of non-believers will end up drawn to the church because of this. Or, I guess maybe the opposite, but whevs.

It's a private school that she is privileged to attend...if she can't conform to their policy she should leave.

Threatening to silence free speech by an educational institution is not only shameful, it’s unconstitutional.

Planned Period provided life saving treatments and should be respected as an organization with many services as should Kate’s desire to support them.

Silencing of women and threatening them if they speak their opinions. You should be ashamed of doing this at an all girls’ school. This is free speech and you allowed it when what you perceived as the opposite message was voiced. This is dangerous to a free society and to all women.
