My water usage is grossly incorrect, as reflected in my most recent bill from the City of Austin. The City will not be able to show that its calculations for "gallons used" is either possible or probable. I demand restitution.
Seeing this grow makes me realize I am not the only one fighting these impossible city utility bills. It is a relief to know that neighbors and friends see the injustice in these numbers just as clearly as I do.

On 8/17 our water usage was 14,400 gallons, about 3 times higher than our average over the previous year. An interesting note, on the bill, the meter read amount appears to have flipped back to zero during this time. Everything after this flip to zero seems to be way too much.

average under 4,000 gallons per month. 8/17 billing was 32,900 gallons! Requested water meter check - they said no leak - and as of 9/9 it was up to 15,000 gallons. Something is seriously wrong. They agreed to escalate it - and said it could take 5-7 days before they even started the process.

Our water bill said we used 40,000 gallons in August & we were out of town for a week. We have never had such a high bill. Something has to be wrong. It's amazing that so many here in Lost Creek are having the same problem.

10-20K gallons last previous bill. Latest bill is 59K gallons. Checking my water meter every 24 hrs since I received my last bill, usage can't exceed 10K. Had a licensed professional check for leakages, there is no leakage.

Our usage was about the same as last year's number. But, we have not watered outdoors this summer at all! The sprinkler system was shut off and no handheld watering was used.

august shows 23200 of usage when my average for the prior 7 months is below 5000 per month. When I checked the meter myself it was under leaves and dirt and could not have been recently read.

I have lived at this address for 27 years and never experienced mistakes of this magnitude. City of Austin took over our water service from the Lost Creek Mud in January
