We, the student council, are petitioning you to establish a summer course for Medical Surgical Nursing. It was confirmed that at least 15 students failed Medical Surgical Nursing. A summer Medical Surgical Nursing course was offered in the previous years to nursing students. We, the class of 2010, are not getting the same opportunity. After meeting with Associate Dean Hill, no valid reason was given to us for the change. By not having this course offered in the summer, we will be faced to endure a financial hardship by accruing additional tuition, early repayment of student loans, loss of scholarships, etc. Not only will this financially destroy us, but this will also set our studies back an entire year. Thank you for your support. Note: If you are a Howard University Nursing student who has failed Medical-Surgical Nursing, by signing this petition you understand you will need to have the funding available if the class is offered in the summer. Also by signing this petition, you understand that by failing the Medical-Surgical Nursing summer course for the second time will result in a dismissal from the nursing program. Sincerely, Student Council
