Patients in hospitals are not being able to see their loved ones since lockdown has been put in place. They allow people in jail to have loved ones visit. They allow loved ones to visit Old Folks Homes just recently. Their human rights have been taken away from them. Their needs are not being met. Their mental and physical health are at risk.

What I wouldn’t give to visit my Daughter this week post op. I’ve seen her twice in this year and she’s needed me to help her more and more whilst waiting for this very delayed surgery and will continue to need help for some time to come after it.

Putting our loved family needs first is vitally important, especially when they are in crisis. Family contact aids recovery and well being in all NHS patients. Kenny was not conscious during the only visit and I thought it was end of life but actually the Dr treating him was more concerned with wanting the DNR compiled. Give the patients the same rights as everyone else.

People need to see a visitor especially in these new single wards in DGRI, my husband was in there for over two weeks last September and I was allowed to see him for 1 hour a day which was the quickest hour a day ever. It wasn’t long enough and I was the only person allowed to see him, so none of his children got to see him for over two weeks before he died

Human contact with loved ones aids not just mental health but physical health. As a daughter and daughter in law of a mother in law who can take seriously ill very quickly and has been nearly killed off every time she has a hospital stay it is vital for her to have family by her side her many health complications and allergies make her high risk in hospital

I experienced the grief myself last year, my wife spent 2 1/2 weeks in DGRI in May, 2 weeks in Edinburgh Royal in June and again 4 1/2 weeks in Edinburgh Royal again in October and November. All brain tumour treatment. Not 1 visit was I aloud. Frustration is indescribable.
