Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference on March 2nd, Ann Coulter - who was received after a glowing introduction from Mitt Romney, whom she endorses - called John Edwards a faggot. http://www.youtube.com/watchv=nYFijV9pOsE Diluting the malice of the word faggot by using it in a \'humorous\' context on a political platform is totally unacceptable. Oppressive language feeds a greater Hate which gives way to discrimination, division, and crime. And, when an entire audience of political figures respond to this oppressive language with chuckles and applause - what kind of message is being sent Sign this petition in support of the Human Rights Campaign\'s call for public condemnation of this kind of language by the 2008 presedential candidates in attendance of the CPAC and Vice President Cheney. Empowering ignorant individuals in their usage of oppressive speech is equivalent to the empowering of ignorant individuals in Hate crimes - Our words become our actions. I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to call out this language. This momentum belongs entirely to you because I never imagined this would reach so many people.

Totally agree. Words have consequences and leaders need to act like adults.

Completely unacceptable. There is no place for that kind of language in politics. Disgusting behavior from everyone involved.
