This is a petition to stop the building of a proposed Wal-Mart at the intersection of Houston Levee and Macon Roads in Cordova, Tennessee.
Here are the details of the proposed project from the Land Use Control Board of Shelby County.
CASE NUMBER: P.D. 06-314CC
DEVELOPMENT NAME: LEE LINE FARMS PLANNED DEVELOPMENT
LOCATION: Northwest corner of Houston Levee Road and Macon Road
APPLICANT: Wal-Mart Stores
REPRESENTATIVE: Carlson Consulting Engineer
EXISTING ZONING: Currently governed by P.D. 06-314CC
REQUEST: Site Plan Approval for a Wal-Mart Super Center consisting of 176,305 square feet of floor area
PROPERTY SIZE: 26.87 Acres
Major complaints:
825 parking spaces with no more than two lane roads entering or exiting the property.
Land backs up to family-friendly neighborhood and Macon-Hall Elementary School.
Parents are concerned about increased traffic around the school and safety of the children in an already overcongested area.
Neighbors are concerned about crime, lower home values and litter/debris from such a GIANT store.
Please check back for any updates on this issue.
I really thought this might just be ignored but seeing this many people join in is honestly overwhelming. It is strange to think about how much traffic that massive parking lot would actually bring to the school zone but we are definitely getting noticed now.

Think of the kids! Why put a giant store where so many children are walking and playing everyday? Keep our neighborhood safe.

My home value is going to tank if this goes up in my backyard. No way.

Seriously? 800 parking spots on those tiny roads? It is going to be total gridlock. DO NOT BUILD THIS.

Enough with the big boxes destroying our quiet neighborhoods. Nobody wants that much traffic right next to an elementary school.
