Coaches come and go, but few can claim the accomplishments of Coach Johnson. She has developed character, discipline, and work ethic in the children of Tarkington. Coach Johnson prepares children to become adults and go out in the world and give back to society. I have personally seen this in the way my daughter, AnnaClaire carries herself and strives to be a better person with a Christian attitude. These are only a few reasons that her name should be hung proudly on the Tarkington High gymnasium.

She shaped me for college ball and for life. I tried quitting when I broke my feet and she looked at me like are you crazy you have to much potential. She pushed me to get back on the court after my injury because she believed in me. She deserves this honor.

Denise has given her students pride in their accomplishments--even the ability for many to educate themselves through their own personal skills and hard work. She has brought years of honor to the District by consistently producing winning teams, as well as leading the area in developing volleyball into an important sport in Texas. Many people, beyond Tarkington Prairie, owe her and her fierce love of the game a debt of gratitude. I would be proud to have our gym named in honor of her and her work on behalf of our children.
