Homeowner Petition Against Proposed Roycebrook Rules and Regulations dated March 6, 2020

By our signatures below, we, the homeowners of Gateway at Royce Brook, Hillsborough, New Jersey, do individually and collectively oppose and reject in its entirety the newly proposed Gateway at Royce Brook Rules and Regulationsdated March 6, 2020, posted for review on the Gateway website.
The proposed changes therein are widely inconsistent with the earlier versions of the document that were distributed to the homeowners at the time of closing. We find the current additions to the document overly restrictive and not aligned with the nature and culture of the community we bought into when purchasing our homes.
We further find that the proposed restraints represent an expression of individual interests rather than community interest. As such, they challenge the core essence of community living and may, in turn, negatively impact property values. The proposed restrictions usurp our freedom of lifestyle, expression, and right to personal happiness and, in some cases, may adversely impact residents’ well-being.
We hereby demand a moratorium be put on any changes to the current Gateway at Roycebrook Rules and Regulations dated July 17, 2019, until such time as the residents can convene (in person) to discuss and dispute the proposed changes by the board, ensuring that every homeowner has the opportunity to voice his or her opinion, in accordance with section 17.01 of the By-Laws, which state:
17.01. Open Meetings. All meetings of the Association Board of Directors, except conference or working sessions at which no binding votes are to be taken, shall be open to attendance by all Lot Owners.
