WE THE UNDERSIGNED DEMAND THAT MICHIGAN ANTI CRUELTY SOCIETY's EMPLOYEES ARE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEFT & ASSAULT!
Michigan Anti Cruelty Society (13569 Joseph Campau DETROIT) is the highest kill shelter in Michigan with the worst performance on record. They kill 80% of the dogs & cats brought into their facility, last year alone 4,535 animals were cremated in their on-site incinerator. A group of dedicated animal advocates have been protesting the M.A.C.S. Facility for over a year.
During a protest on December 16th 2016, Michigan Anti Cruelty Society employees chased down and assaulted protesters.
An owner of a small dog pulled up to Michigan Anti Cruelty Society (a high kill shelter) to surrender her dog. The owner decided to give the dog to protesters instead of bringing the dog into the shelter.
4 Michigan Anti Cruelty Society employees (Deborah Thurman, Linda Hagar, Art Alvarado, & Ashlee Wright) came out of the building, chased the protester to her vehicle, entered her vehicle, assaulted her, & violently stole the dog from the protester. All the while blocking the way of & intimidating the other protester that was present, preventing her from helping. *The dog suffered injuries as a result of this altercation & was later adopted out by Michigan Anti Cruelty Society having received no medical care for her leg injury. (It healed improperly & would need to be re-broken to fix her leg).
Charges were filed with Detroit Police, BUT the Assistant Prosecutor Tara Mathena is REFUSING to hold Michigan Anti Cruelty Society's employees responsible for their actions. She is claiming that there is "not enough evidence that a crime has been committed"

this rescue has gone out of its way to prevent protesters from giving these animals good homes and then killing some of them, unreal, 20 percent adoption rate speaks for itself
This facility is unethical. They assaulted a woman and injured a dog in the process. They then adopt the dog out and never provided veterinary care. They need to be prosecuted for their actions.
This place is in clear violation of many laws and regulations. It needs to be shut down. The employees harass protesters at their homes and online. The murder of so many adoptable pets is disgusting and in no way true to their name.
This place needs to be held responsible for what they do. This needs to be investigated and videos are proof of what happened. They need to be held responsible for assault of a protester just like anyone else would be held responsible!!! They have no right assaulting protestors or anyone else!!!
There is enough evidence, I saw the video. Please do the right thing and make these people pay for the assault on this person and for stealing this poor dog. There should be a cruelty charge, also, because of the injury to this poor dog.
This shelter doesn’t check for chips in dogs that come in and never make it out.
This place is a house of terror for animals!

I've had personal dealings with MACS and can attest to the fact it's a place no dog or cat should ever wind up at. It's an automatic death sentence with virtually little to no chance of adoption. It's a hell hole that needs be held accountable and shut down.
