The VA across the nation is currently making veterans wait 6-8 weeks between therapy sessions in their outpatient services. The excuse? They can't get enough people to work there. When asked why they can't hire Licensed Professional Counselors to do the work, they said it's because they currently only hire social workers and psychologists. Let's let the VA know that this is inexcusable, refusing to hire people who are ready, willing, and qualified to do the job.

I am beginning internship to be a LPC. I am a retired veteran and the VS needs more mental health care. Thank you.
I am in support of removing this faulty mindset. We who are the LPC should be among the list of professions who are sought and hired to serve those who have challenges in the very areas that we are trained to provide services in.

My brother is a vet and he waits forever for appointments. Stop wasting time with red tape and just hire the counselors who are already qualified to help.
