My chid and his classmate do need art and music in their lives, it’s a very important aspect of their development. Please, please reconsider granting muscota the permission to keep our music and art teachers. Our kids really need this.

The arts are an essential part of the curriculum at Muscota and a big reason that families chose Muscota for their children. Dan and Sasha are both extraordinary at their jobs and with the children. The Muscota experience won't be the same without these teachers.

Our school absolutely needs our Music (Dan) and Art (Sasha) teachers. They are absolutely necessary to the school community and are needed for the children to have a slight sense of continuity to school this year.

The music and art program offered at Muscota is an essential and integral part of my children's education at Muscota. Our music teacher, Dan, and our art teacher, Sasha, are of the highest caliber. Years of research have shown that music and art are closely linked to almost everything we as a nation say we want for our children and demand from our schools: academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, and equitable opportunity. Involvement in music and arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. It is even more imperative that we keep music and arts as part of our children's curriculum given the current COVID-19 pandemic and given that our children's education has been already drastically changed given the current hybrid and/or full remote learning. If we are to ensure our children's continued success during these difficult times, now would not be the time to cut our music and art program from Muscota. The children at Muscota and District 6 deserve the best education that they can receive, which includes music and art as part of their curriculum.

Both teachers are an extraordinary asset to the school, the community, and the DOE. Beyond being adored by all the staff and students for what they do so well, we see them constantly being super helpful in the over all School programming. I assure you that you would be very hard pressed to get a better value for the use of our educational funding. It is imperative that we allow exceptional teachers like this to assist our kids in developing a well rounded sense of community and caring. Thank you for your time and help in improving our children’s education.

Our children need music and arts in the classroom, Its how they express themselves and learn bout different cultures and even how they can relate! We need these two amazing teachers to work with our kids!

It is shameful that the DOE can cut out the arts when it was one of the main reasons why I chose this school for my son. Art is a place mark for society. It is a universal way to express history. Developing an eye for interpretation is extremely important skill to have in a world where you have to think outside of the box and solve issues using different perspectives. Please grant the appeal for our art and music teachers to return to work and help our children develop a craft which in turn sharpens their math skills. Art and Stem are a much needed combination. Much like engineering functions better with the right stylistic design.

Art and music are the fundamental backbone of Muscota and why so many families attend this school (and why it is so well known in district 6). Having art and music and the creative freedom that it brought during the spring quarantine ensured that our daughter thrived in remote learning. It allowed her to refuel and show up more present for STEM and other subjects deemed “more important”. As an artist myself, the trauma of seeing the arts being so heavily hit by this pandemic is gut wrenching. Please don’t continue this cycle with our children. This is essential to our school community and how our students learn, heal and grow!

Art and Music are a crucial part of the Muscota school! It is the reason the school has excelled to become the top school in the district. It is the reason my special needs daughter attends the school. Without the motivation of art and music, she would not be able to make it through much of her schoolwork!!

As the DOE complains of a lack of teachers, it is baffling as to how they would deny a request to hire any teachers, let alone high quality, passionate ones strongly requested by the administration and PA alike.
