Port Hope town councilors are split in their votes about allowing the organizers of the Heroes Highway Motorcycle Rally to make Port Hope their destination, and the HBIA has unanimously voted against it. The Rally is run to honour our Veterans and raise funds for Veteran's organizations. Our town, "...felt it won’t have an economic impact and did not fit the image of the quiet, historic municipality...".

The signatories of this petition believe that not welcoming this group is a short sighted and incredibly disrespectful move on the part of Port Hope. Members of our military don't shy away from the loud noises or the inconvenience of providing service to our country. The fund raising efforts of the rally organizers and participants should be welcomed and appreciated by our town not turned away.

Please sign this petition to let the Municipality of Port Hope and the organizers of the rally know that we, the voters of this community and patrons of the downtown businesses are all in favour of having the rally in our town. We want to support our Veterans! Bring the Heroes Highway Motorcycle Rally to Port Hope!

I am a Silver Cross mom. My son Craftsman Kyle Sinclair died in Petawawa, On, on base while in training in 2014. This is another great way to continue to remember, not only the ones who gave all, but all our Veterans and the ones who still our Serving our Country! I am a Port Hope resident !

As a vet and born and raised in Port Hope. I find this to be very sad that the town continues to live in the past and continues to miss the boat on opportunities. Why not host the event on several of the vacant lots that were businesses used to be. This is a great cause and your vets deserve your support.

Our downtown needs the opportunity to showcase what it can offer. An event like this will attract more then just bikers as each one has families and friends. Walton street has to many closed shops and moving signs or out of business sales....I don't think picking and choosing clients is a smart move.

I agree it would help put Port Hope on the map and if there are volunteers required for cleanup after I will volunteer. The words that caught me the most which were very compelling were that the motorcycles will never be as loud as the war. thank you

I support this event and feel it will both honour our veterans and provide valuable business opportunities in terms of marketing, from a tourism perspective, of our lovely town of Port Hope as well as direct financial benefit to the Town's Businesses during the event.

It should be an honour to hold a rally in the name of our Veterans. It's not an everyday thing, and one day will not hurt! Support our Veterans!
