UPDATE: Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who signed the petition for my friend. Since I started the petition Lindsay has been moved to the Halifax rehabilitation center where she is being further assessed to see where she needs to go. Also, the MLA for Clayton Park and Glace Bay (where Lindsay is from) have decided to write a joint letter to the Minister of Health advising them of Lindsay\'s situation and how she needs to helped. With the signatures and noise that\'s been created I think things are going to change for her. Thank you SO much for your help!! Sincerely, Susan ************************************************** Lindsay Young, was injured in a horrific car accident on a Cape Breton highway on February 22, 2004. She had been over in Taiwan teaching English with her boyfriend when she decided to come home for a visit, unfortunately Lindsay did not know how dramatically her life was about to change. Lindsay was left in a coma with serious brain injuries after the accident. Slowly, over the last 3 and a half years, Lindsay is finally able to communicate with an alphabet board. She is aware of her surroundings, but does not understand how she got there. Her short-term memory was affected so she has to be told time and time again about the accident. She is unable to speak, hear, eat or walk. I believe Lindsay has a lot of potential to improve but unfortunately Nova Scotia doesn\'t offer the proper rehab she needs. She has been in the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Center a few times but she has not received the right type of rehab for her injury. Lindsay has not received physiotherapy or any psychological help since the accident, I can only imagine that she feels trapped and no one can help her. There is no brain injury rehab center in Nova Scotia, so Lindsay, and others like her are left to suffer the consequences. There are over 2000 brain injuries every year in Nova Scotia yet we have no way to properly help these people. Therefore, I am starting an on-line petition to get Lindsay sent out of province for rehabilitation. She is being denied her right to treatment and being denied her chance of living a better life. Her and others like her need to be able to receive the help they need whether or not Nova Scotia can provide it. Other provinces have treatment centers specifically for brain injuries and this is where Lindsay needs to be. I am hoping to get at least 1000 signatures and then will bring this petition to Nova Scotia\'s Minister of Health, Chris d\'Entremont, to see what he is willing to do for Lindsay and others like her. Thank you so much for taking time to read this and considering my friend. You may think you don\'t know this girl, however she could easily be your friend, your sister, your daughter or mother, these injuries can happen in a matter of seconds. If you would like to sign your name for Lindsay, please do so below. Yours truly & Lindsay\'s best friend, Susan Badcock P.S.
