Help us to rezone A to Z Discovery Preschool from R-1 (residential) to B-1 (business)! For the city counsel to hear us, we must be louder than the opposing side, which are the residents from the side street beside the Preschool. I feel strongly that an injustice is being done! The voices of the opposing side are drowning out the logical and right choice for the council.

The preschool should be rezoned because: the entrance is on Hwy 44, it is adjacent to other B-1 properties on 2 sides, our property was deeded out in 1960 which is two years before the subdivision restrictions were put into record in 1962, we've placed restrictions that will not allow an entrance to be placed from the side street or for an adult book store or storage units to be put there, a 6 foot barrier will need to be installed between the preschool's property and the residential one, and small businesses are vital for the growth of Shepherdsville. Here are the opposing sides arguments: our trash and mail are on their street, my staff walk 4-6 toddlers (using a walking rope) up and down their street daily, the preschool has created more traffic on Hwy 44, we must abide by the subdivision restrictions since we are on the Coakley Subdivision plat, and they're afraid of getting extra cars down their street because they've missed the entrance to the Preschool.

I hope that you've been able to see which side sounds more logical. Unfortunately, the city council seems to be listening very intently to the opposing side's arguments.

I need YOUR support!

If you also see the injustice happening here you can:

1. Pray for the City Council members to have wisdom. Pray that no matter what happens, we’ll be able to give God the glory that he so richly deserves.

2. Start by signing the petition.

3. Then email the City Council members (Larry Hatfield- lhatfield@shepcity.com; Lisa Carter- lcarter@shepcity.com; Stacey Cline- scline@shepcity.com; Bonnie Enlow- bonnie.j.enlow.paop@statefarm.com; Deb Huffman- dhuffman@shepcity.com; Kenny Newton- knewton@shepcity.com) and asking these questions-“Why is the Council so dysfunctional?”

  • “Why don’t you support small businesses in this town?”
  • “Why are you not thinking of the need for this type of service-related business both now and in the future to support the employment in Shepherdsville, particularly that related to the e-commerce industry?”
  • “Are you not aware that these nice people are willing to put reasonable restrictions on this property, yet NO ONE will talk to them or their attorneys?”
  • Why is this property being treated differently than all the other business property at the entrance to the many residential streets on either side of KY44 between the interstate and Floyds Fork?”
  • “Why do you not follow the advice of the City Attorney who has told you there is no residential restriction applicable to this property?”

4. Lastly, you can stand with us and attend the next city council meeting on May 13 at 6:30pm.

Will you stand with us?
