Please support our playground project, which will benefit all the children at MVCS, and the entire community which uses the playground heavily in off-hours. The space is badly underutilized for our very large school!

This playground is important not only for my 1st grader, but also for my two younger children who are not yet in ACPS but use it all the time. I also see that Maury is having its playground redone at this time.

This playground is a huge part of the school and surrounding community. It must be upgraded and made safer/more usable for not only the children who attend the school but for the Alexandria community who use it daily.

Our kids, our school, our community, Alexandria needs this playground. It's more than a playground. It's a statement of what hard work by parents, kids and our community can achieve. We can make Del Ray and Alexandria shine. Close this funding gap....please!

Play is an important part of development for all children. The kids of MVCS and the surrounding neighborhood have made good use of a sub-par play yard for too long. Please allow them the opportunity to experience the exciting space that our community has envisioned for them by fully funding the project.

The Mount Vernon Community School PTA, parents, local businesses and community at large has spent an inordinate amount of time and effort fundraising for the restoration of the Mount Vernon Community School playground. During that time over $150,000 has been raised over several years of collection. The commitment by the community has been extraordinary and shows not only the dedication towards the school but also to the safety and development of all those who utilize the park during school/non-school hours. The time for ACPS to meet the community and fully fund the playground restoration is now! There can be no further delays. The grounds are unkempt, they are unsafe - glass shards unearthed due to years of erosion, the playground surface torn apart over years of use, picnic tables sitting on dirt/mud, no grass to play on, no investment in upgrading the equipment - it's go on too long.
As the city council adopts a budget that is raising property taxes and assessed value on the homes surrounding Mount Vernon Community School it is a critical need that some of those funds be made available immediately in this budget or the budget beginning in July to full fund the playground restoration at Mount Vernon Community School.

You closed the gap for Maury...why not Mount Vernon. Everyone working on raising the money won't even be here to see it improved. But we are still working hard.

Parents and the community have worked together to help raise funds to revitalize the playground as it is in need of a lot of repair. Please help be a part of this endeavor by closing the funding gap to see this to its fruition. Your help can help create a place of safety and inspiration for our children and the community!

This is a matter of safety and the fact that the community has come together to raise over $150,000 makes it only right that the City step up. They have done it in the past for other schools so it would be very unfair not to step up for Mt. Vernon.

As a 30 year resident of Alexandria, with most of those spent in Del Ray, I urge your support for this project. I am NOT a parent, but recognize the value and importance of a safe and inviting play area for the children of MVCS. Parents and the community have done their part, raising more than $150,000 for this effort. Please take this project over the finish line.

The community has paid for design services, engineering drawings, and permits. We have raised over $150,000 to fix basic infrastructure that should have been fixed long ago. The plan is modest - it does not call for shiny new equipment or any of the bells and whistles other more affluent schools have. We just want a playground that is safe and accessible for all. Please close the gap and move forward with this project.
