By signing this petition you will help us declare to the State and Federal Government that the Northwest Region, the birthplace of the oil industry, wants to continue that legacy as the hub of the emerging natural gas industry.

What is the Pipeline Safety Inspector Training Center?

At the present time there is only one Pipeline Safety Inspector Training Center in the US which is located in Oklahoma. The school has a two year waiting list for individuals requesting pipeline inspection training. Without the addition of a second approved facility to train qualified pipeline inspectors, laying the pipeline necessary to facilitate the rapid growth in the natural gas industry will come to a halt.

Why locate it here? (It makes common sense to locate the facility in NWPA)

·         We sit in the geographic center of the shale plays that are under the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and West Virginia.

·        We have a community with a rich history that was built on the culture oil and gas industry.

·         We have an available building located on a brownfield site that would make the perfect location for the facility.

·         We have a Regional airport that is located minutes away from the proposed site.

·         Honeywell’s state of the art safety training facility is located here.

·         We have restaurants and housing available for students and instructors.

What does it mean for the region?

Locating the facility here would have a substantial economic impact on the region. Local businesses would be needed to supply goods and services needed by instructors and students. Other businesses would be encouraged to move to the area. The new pool of trained inspectors would remove one of the roadblocks to laying the vast amount of pipeline needed to allow the natural gas industry to grow. Growth in the energy sector means growth in our state and our communities.

PA is the home of energy and this only makes sense. we need more inspectors to keep things moving and get people back to work.

A two year wait is just crazy. putting the center here is the smartest move for the region.
