The bill passed and the importation of shark fins is finally banned. Thank you for pushing this across the finish line when it seemed like the status quo would never change. Stay sharp and keep an eye on enforcement as the new law takes effect.
Bill-C380 is a bill that was proposed by Finn Donnelly to stop the importation of shark fins, because believe it or not, shark fin soup is legal in Canada! Now, your not allowed to fish sharks, but importation is allowed, which to us is hypocritical. That is what this petition is about, stopping the importation of shark fins.
The silence from the federal office remains just as loud as ever. Call your local member of parliament today to demand they address the hypocrisy of our current import laws.

We hit a real turning point today and the momentum behind this ban is undeniable. Email the offices of your local representatives right now to demand they back Bill-C380. Post this link to your social media accounts and keep the pressure on until the importation ends.

Can sharks swim after their fin is cut from them? Isnt it a way to condemn that species to extintion just for human "enjoyment"???

Politically I am as right wing as you get but this butchery of sharks needs to stop. It's completely disgusting and wrong. Canada needs to ban the importation of this product. It should be illegal and viewed as wrong as the drug trade. Infact the same should be done for most of Chinese medicinal products.

Once we reach 1,000 signatures we will bring it to Fin Donnelly and parliament to get another bill passed. Please share this petition with your friends and family, we will need a lot of people to join our fight and make sure the bill is passed. Did you know that 100 million sharks are killed each year, 250,000 a day, 11,500 per hour, 190 per minute and 3 per second. Also, 85% of the shark population has decreased because of shark finning.

I hope the bill passes. This is a particularly cruel and senseless practise and we can all live without the soup. Find a substitute for it.

Did you That 99 percent of the hammerhead population is dead? Also, 100 million sharks are killed each year by humans, and only 12 humans are killed per year by sharks.

Sharks, after their fins are cut off, are thrown back into the ocean and left to die of starvation. The chance of shark attacks are about 1 in 11.5 million, so if they barely attack us, why should we lead them to extinction? No shark soup!
