This is a petition to get the European Union to ban Shark Finning. Shark finning is widespread, and largely unmanaged and unmonitored. Shark finning has increased over the past decade largely due to the increasing demand for shark fins for Chinese shark fin soup and traditional cures, improved fishing technology, and improved market economics. Shark specialists estimate that anywhere between 38 million-100 million sharks are killed for their fins, annually, thats around 3 per second!!!! The shocking thing is, is that the shark is not killed, it has its fins cut off while alive, the still living body is then thrown back to the sea where it sinks and eventually dies a slow and painful death which can take around 3-5 days either by bleeding to death or drowning. As a result of this species of sharks that have been around for millions of years are now endangered, this must be stopped!!! So please sign this petition so we can stand up and save the Shark!!
