Help Strays in Crete

A neutering and animal welfare programme is essential for both economic reasons, insofar as the effect on tourism, and humanitarian reasons .

we have spent 13 years rescuing animals on crete. It is a full time job... only forced to stop because of my husbands head injury. But it is unfair to expect individuals to the job that the local authorities should do by law....

A much needed service

vitally important work for animal welfare and health and safety of people

Please organise some decent premises, so that this incredibly important neutering programme be able to continue.

I really hope we can get the council to recognise the real need to keep this animal help line going for the future. I

I think that this programme needs to be kept as there are sp many stray dogs roaming the streets and cats at bins. It does not help with tourism as tourists from all over Scandinavia and the UK feel the Greek people are not caring towards animals and many have voiced they will not come back. There needs to be a professional housing for vets from abroad to neuter the animals and they give up their time to do this. A law should be passed that Greek vets should neuter dogs and cats for the poor for a small fee of €10 like they do in the UK. There's a huge problem on Crete and the government and municipality needs to address this very quickly.

We rescued a stray dog four years ago and are currently fostering a puppy. We urge the authorities to continue to help alleviate the problem of stray cats and dogs as many people cannot take any more animals themselves.

This is a cause very close to my heart, i rescued my Johnny Le Greco from Gouves after finding him near death as a stray kitten back in 2012. He now lives here in Wales. Hope things change in Greece for all paws x

If they can't be re-homed they need to be neutered.
