1,000 mining claims are being held by big mining companies five miles away from the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon brings 467 million dollars of Economic impact to the state of Arizona. Since Arizona is mainly using the Grand Canyon to provide the majority of the economic impact, if the Grand Canyon is contaminated the amount of Economic impact will decrease due less tourists. Tourist would not want to visit the contaminated Grand Canyon and eventually the Grand Canyon will bring no economic impact at all to Arizona. This problem will also interfere with the water in the Colorado River which runs through the Grand Canyon. More than twenty five million people rely on the Colorado River as their water source not including animals.
