I have friends living in the area, all of whom make beautiful art and benefit massively from the concentration of artistic talent and community there. Building apartments in Hackney wick would only propel the process of gentrification which ruins the most amazing parts of cities.

Hackney Wick is home to 100's of artists, all of whom are the back bone of London's creative identity. Please do not rob us of the little land we inhabit, the wick - once rich with industrial production has gone through many changes to get to what is it now, a hub of culture and artistic history. Please don't end this chapter by replacing such a productive & interesting town with housing. Do this for the artists of hackney wick but importantly for London. It would be sad to see Europes biggest concentrated area of artists fade away.. I have a sound studio here in which I solely rely upon to earn a living, like 100's of others. Take our home and have a major job crisis on your hands.

I rely on the 'factory town' status of Hackney Wick for my employment. If the current Hackney Wick is not conserved then myself and probably 1000s of other jobs will be lost or severely set back. The conservative party have already done so much damage to the Arts with their ruthless cuts, please don't allow their legacy to include destroying one of the creative hubs of Europe.

You can never get back the cultural history of this place if we let it be destroyed for short term commercial gain. History and character is what makes London so special, although re-vampin may make money in the short term, in the long run we will be losing what makes London special and desirable in the first place.

The council are massively restricting what the developers can do to Hackney Wick. Both to the character and to the productive uses prevalent in the area (traditional and creative industries).
