I want to Help Huntington!

I am opposed to any commercial development of the Platt’s Tavern site located at the corner of Park Avenue and East Main Street.

Due to overwhelming traffic, drainage, safety, environmental, and historic issues that face this intersection, any commercial development will have a detrimental effect to the residents of this area and anyone who travels along these roads and enjoys the cultural resources of this area.

A large commercial medical complex would be disastrous at this location.

For these reasons it is suggested the property be purchased under the Environmental Open Space & Park Fund.

I have read and signed this petition to show my support.

There are so many other more suitable locations for such a building. This historic section should be preserved, not to mention there are already 3 urgent care centers on 25a in Huntington within 5 miles of each other.

My wife and I live in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. However, my wife grew up in Huntington and her mother's family goes back many generations there. We are both concerned about this commercial development. It is better that the property be protected. Thank you.

That intersection is already backed up frequently. Adding more commercial development will only make it worse. Most ambulances traveling to Huntington Hospital have to pass through this intersection and more traffic will cause delays that could cost lives.

As a life time resident of Huntington this area of town is one of my favorites. From the historic qualities to the festivals that take place it add character to the community, and any major development there would decrease that.

Huntington's history is much more important than any commercial development. Why do we need to build on every piece of open land? The property should be purchased under the Environmental Open Space and Park Fund.

Huntington is long known for its colonial roots. Taking a spot that we know George Washington visited and turning it into the commercial building that is planned makes no sense. And, traffic is atrocious there already.

With no safe way to turn left onto 25a nor south onto Park Avenue, developing his site as described will create an unsafe and heavily congested area. Not to mention that there is an urgent care facility close by both to the west and to the east, there is no need for another site. This must be avoided to preserve the nature of the area and the safety of everyone using this already busy intersection.
