Clowne in Chesterfield is mostly residential (including an old peoples home)and there are number of lively pubs. Some public houses in particular 'The Angel' play the music far too loud which is very disruptive to local residents. In addition to this noise, fighting and other disruption from the drinkers is also endured. Pubs in residential areas can be a nuisance, particularly near closing times, certainly now new smoking laws are in force. Noise problems have been increased, shouting/loud music particularly now drinkers/smokers are outside. Doors are left open due to people being outside which compounds the problem. Disruptive behaviour from drunken people in addition to the noise extends through to the early hours. Pubs may close at 12pm however people are still finishing drinks and loitering around for taxis well into the early hours. This may be seen as acceptible in city centres but should not be in smaller town/village centres where there are a larger percentage of residents. The aim of this petition is to help reduce music noise and other disruption as above.
