Leicester Friends of the Earth would like the City Council to change planting regimes to more bee friendly ones, similar to those already being carried out by councils in Birmingham, Brighton and Sheffield. We also call on the Council to look at creating wildflower areas “mini-meadows” on housing estates, and to undertake planting in parks and other public spaces and on main road central reservations.

The momentum we have built makes it impossible for Leicester City Council to keep ignoring our city's dying bee population. These bureaucrats need to realize that we will not stop until they stop their pathetic planting policies and start protecting our pollinators.

bees are dying everywhere and the council is just sitting on their hands. plant some wildflowers already!
About time. Every time I walk through town it looks like a desert. Put some actual flowers in instead of just grass no one uses.
Great idea. The central reservations look boring anyway let's get some color in there for the bees.
need more pollinators in the city!! local wildlife is struggling enough as it is.
so many verges in leicester are just empty dirt patches. make them look nice and help the bugs at the same time.
