We believe the purpose of any housing program is to provide stable and decent living conditions for people in need, giving them the comfort and stability required to contribute to the economy by working, studying, and progressing in life. This is what the majority of families at Heatly Place are trying to do, but we are constantly forced to deal with reckless decisions and questionable demonstrations of power by Tuath and DCC.
The residents of Heatly Place have been through a lot in the past 18 months. We have experienced robberies, constant vandalism, assaults, and anti-social behaviour from non-residents. Ex.; Fire alarm to going off and the fire brigade to be called to the building more than ten times in one year. On top of this, there is a lack of attention from Tuath, which constantly neglects our requests. These include calls for better security and repairs .
We are exhausted by the unnecessary problems created over and over again by these same people in power, who act punitively instead of using their energy to provide solutions. They punish residents unfairly, with no notice or remorse, showing an attitude that should be reserved for criminals.
We are CBL applicant. Yes, but no a criminals or an animals to deserve such treatment. The majority here work every day, pay my rent, pay my taxes, do community work, and don't bother anyone. Why do I have to live in this constant state of fear? Why must I watch my basic rights vanish because someone in power seems intent on turning Heatly Place into a living hell?
The greatest, the undeniable issue and main point of this petition is parking at Heatly Place.
Yes, the CBL application said "no parking." However, how can anyone expect that over a 25-year lease contract, not a single one of the 93 families living here would eventually buy a car?
DCC/ Tuath attitude seems to be: "- That’s not our problem (even though a building plan in 2024 without car cark should never have been approved) - Let's just give the residents more hassle. If they buy a car, send a clamping company and make them miserable, because we have the power to."
'' - If that doesn't work; treat them like animals, it's their fault for buying cars! Block all access to the car park and the street so the 36 cars will vanish. Problem solved!"
That is a tyrannical, mean, and lazy way to approach and solve problems. The person taking these decisions should never be in power!
All this energy could easily be directed towards a solution instead of bringing people more stress and limitations. Do you really believe 36 cars will disappear just because you block the road? You are only pushing the problem under the rug or to surrounding areas. This could easily be resolved by painting designated parking spots in the huge, currently used area that already exists on Groove Road. The only place the residents found to park their car.
I don't want to make this personal, as I am speaking for all residents, but I drive for 1h 40 minutes every morning to take my child to school in South Dublin + 20 minutes to get to work. Commuting for 4 hours every day would be impossible without a car. No car means no work. It is a tool that We rely on to keep working and living. I genuinely do not understand this warfare against cars.
All residents were recently notified with a very rigid and aggressive message, demanding we empty the car park and the road for "roadworks'' by 22nd September, with intention or block the road and access permanently our cars.
This is reckless decision that affects 93 families with immediate effect and is a demonstration of power and rage against the very people DCC was supposed to help, assist, and support.
A petition, signed by all residents, was previously delivered to Tuath/ DCC asking them to correct their mistake by creating parking spaces outside the building. A negative response was given, stating that they didn't have planning permission for parking, even though there is a large, empty plot of land in front of the building. This area was deliberately locked with concrete blocks to prevent parking after the building was completed. And the question is why? Create a problem when the solution is there, just in front of us, but locked with gates accumulating rubbish and drug users.
Using the same resources and investment that initially was said they didn't have (which comes from residents' taxes), a planning permission ( that also said not to have) was apparently granted in a matter of weeks!
DCC/ Tuath is choosing not to solve the problem, once more, but to punish us and make things even worse out of sheer anger. Closing the only car park, arranging Clamping to profit from people in need and spending more money to make parking unviable.
As citizens and taxpayers, we deserve an in-person meeting with all responsible parties to discuss this situation and to get a reasonable explanation for these questionable and mean-spirited actions.

I am a resident of Heatly place, there is available space at the back of the building which would hugely contribute to parking for all residents. This has been an open empty space for almost two years now while residents struggle to find parking. A lot of us are in need of a car to travel to work and schools with multiple children in the building with additional needs
I have a 5 year old and 3 year old who both goes to school and crèche and extra activities everyday and I also work full time as an healthcare assistant ( Homecare worker) all these will not be possible without a car . I would appreciate if DCC can arrange more solutions to these , so to make our forever home a conducive environment for us all to live . Thanks
we want car parking
The Parking situation is getting worse day by day and many thefts and breaks happening by teenagers at Foxwood barn and everyone deserves a dedicated parking space atleast you can prioritize the people who has kids, elders , wheelchair people can get a dedicated car parking so that others can park at luas car park but the luas car park is not at all a safe place to park again as there are many teenagers everyday breaking cars and no response from anyone taking action.
Please let us park in piece.

Main issue for me is parking as my son has a severe blood disorder that leads me to be on high alert every day to find parking where I won’t be clamped or my car won’t be vandalised in order for me to go at any minute if my child falls or hurts himself. It’s caused constant worry and frustration. Also the fire alarms going off constantly has lead my child to become very upset and hysterical which is awful and shouldn’t be happening! I’m aware I signed a lease with no car parking but I had nowhere else to go and I think something needs to be done.
