1 in 5 Canadians are affected by some form of mental illness. [1] Post-secondary students are especially prone to mental health problems, with an estimated 46% of Canadian university students experiencing depression at one point. [2] One possible approach to improving mental health is meditation, a series of techniques that foster mindfulness. While many are aware of the benefits of meditation, it can be difficult to develop and maintain a regular habit.

This is where meditation apps such as Headspace come in. These apps offer bite-sized and structured lessons on meditation, allowing individuals to easily integrate mindfulness into their lives. However, it does come at a steep price -- $96 (USD) for a year's subscription. In the United States, post-secondary students are eligible to get a year's service at a mere $10. Unfortunately, this does not extend to Canadian students.

This petition is a campaign to Headspace, urging them to bring their $10/year student discount to Canada. It would not only open up a large market, but it would also help us post-secondary students cope with the stresses and anxieties of life in a healthy way. Join me by signing this petition :)!

it is honestly so unfair that we have to pay full price while US students pay pennies. Being a student up here is expensive enough already.

I completely support this movement as a university student struggling with first year.
