We residents are Woodhull Medical Center, feel it is our right to request hazard pay during the COVID 19 pandemic. We request this hazard pay to help offset the hardships we have to endure by being the frontline staff throughout the hospital during this pandemic, placing ourselves at risk with inadequate PPEs, the amount of time several of us have invested to find donations for PPEs, the hardship that this pandemic has placed on many of our families who live with us, and finally, for the loss of personal time and professional training. While we signed up to become residents to learn how to become autonomous physicians in the future through long hours of work and training at Woodhull, we also feel that we are placing ourselves, our families and friends at greater risk now during this pandemic and that should warrant monetary compensation.
