The members of Local 3 are requesting management and the union leadership to bargain for hazard pay. We understand the commitment to the public and to the company to maintain the system at its full potential. Money is not the focal point, but the idea behind it is to provide for our families, relieve financial burden, and the critical risk factor put on the employed due to this pandemic.

Money is not worth a life or substitute, but we are the ones in the field putting ourselves and our families at risk for no extended compensation. It should not be downplayed by any excuses of what we’ve done in the past since this pandemic is unprecedented. The risk outweighs the reward; the people who suffer the most if we become affected is our loved ones. We could not prepare for something of this caliber, but considering our response and handling of the situation, we feel a hazard pay is duly deserved.
