Final supporters
We the undersigned residents of Haydon Grange wish to register our concern and frustration at the ongoing and worsening problem of student parking on our estate, which has spread to many streets and is a cause of inconvenience and even confrontation.
We are particularly frustrated that parking facilities are available on campus and the nearby Coach Lane car park but our estate is being used as a means of avoiding pay parking or paying for a campus permit.
We therefore request that the City Council and UNN work together to address this problem by considering and implementing appropriate measures such as suspending parking charges at the Coach Lane car park (which we consider would be a more practical and cost effective solution than resident only parking)

At times it would be impossible for a fire engine to get down Nunwick Way due to the double parking on/ off the pavement. Not acceptable on public. safety grounds
Nunwick Way is narrow and winding which is one of the reasons why laybys were established along its route for the safe parking for residents ,their visitors and sevices. Not only are the pavements being used for parking but also these laybys. It stikes me that if a student can afford to run a car they can afford to pay a parking fee. The university and council need to be more proactive and take responsibility for action to alleviate this situation.
The university neither provides parking for the students nor takes responsibility for the effect they have on residential neighbourhoods. Together with the council action needs to be taken to deal with this problem.
It's getting worse with people parking on on Haydon Grange using it as a car park. Your constantly on a daily basis having to ask them not to park outside your home and met with abuse which is both stressful and very uncomfortable.
Both STAFF and students park in the estate with two wheels on the payment. Last week we had 8 of their cars in Moralee Close, which is a small cul-de-sac. This left no space for residents or their visitors. Unacceptable!!!!!
That council car park should be free anyway. They distroyed trees and other environmental factors were affected when it was built. As a resident I was never consulted. It just happened. Also the scout hut caused enormous upheaval when the electricity was installed. Again, no consultation was held and the reason for the works at the time was cited as ‘providing power to new homes’.
As a commercial organisation the University should make arrangements for their own parking.

We live in Stonecroft Gardens and our lay-bys are constantly being used, this prevents our visitors use. Don’t agree that we should pay for permit parking when the students quite clearly won’t pay. When I purchased my house over 20 years ago the university assured residents that parking would not become a problem they need to stand by there original agreements.
