Petition to the University of Gloucestershire to Amend its Current Proposals for the Redevelopment of the former Pittville Campus
We the undersigned support the University of Gloucestershire in its aim to re-develop Pittville Campus but we urge it to redevelop the site with very great care and with great consideration for all the potential impacts that any changes to such a locally dominating facility would have on local residents and the area in general.
We, therefore, call upon the university to take proper note of the severe difficulties and disharmony that its current, and deeply unpopular, outline proposal to create a high-density dormitory site for an annual intake it has stated will increase to794 first-year students -almost 4-timesthe present numbers - would impose on local permanent residents and those resident along the route to and from town, all areas which lie outside the university's ability to control. We ask the university to revisit the scheme much more sympathetically with much greater concern for others whilst reducingconsiderablythe proposed numbers ofresident studentsso that the university might again co-exist in reasonable harmony with the local permanent population. We also urge the university to reconsider re-commissioning the existing purpose-built learning and teaching facilities instead of rebuilding these afresh at Park Campus thus freeing up more space for its student accommodation at Park Campus and other sites.
This develop is not a good choice, it would increase noise, rowdiness, litter, anti social behaviour (which currently already happens) its not in keeping with area and it's immensities, its beautiful parks are already a thoroughfare. Local roads would be used for parking as they are already therefore this would be increase tenfold.
