That council car park should be free anyway. They distroyed trees and other environmental factors were affected when it was built. As a resident I was never consulted. It just happened. Also the scout hut caused enormous upheaval when the electricity was installed. Again, no consultation was held and the reason for the works at the time was cited as ‘providing power to new homes’.

We live in Stonecroft Gardens and our lay-bys are constantly being used, this prevents our visitors use. Don’t agree that we should pay for permit parking when the students quite clearly won’t pay. When I purchased my house over 20 years ago the university assured residents that parking would not become a problem they need to stand by there original agreements.

At times it would be impossible for a fire engine to get down Nunwick Way due to the double parking on/ off the pavement. Not acceptable on public. safety grounds

I live in Nunwick way, some time parked too many cars near the entrance of the state, and they parked half on the pavement.

Nunwick Way is narrow and winding which is one of the reasons why laybys were established along its route for the safe parking for residents ,their visitors and sevices. Not only are the pavements being used for parking but also these laybys. It stikes me that if a student can afford to run a car they can afford to pay a parking fee. The university and council need to be more proactive and take responsibility for action to alleviate this situation.

The university neither provides parking for the students nor takes responsibility for the effect they have on residential neighbourhoods. Together with the council action needs to be taken to deal with this problem.

I note the councils response and can't help thinking it would be somewhat different if a councillor was struggling to get in or out of their driveway! Typical head in sand attitude from this shower!

We find it infuriating that students think it's acceptable to use our estate as a free car park. We are concerned regarding the safety issues this inconsiderate parking causes; we have had a couple of near misses pulling out of our cul -de-sac on Nunwick Way as the cars parked on the right restrict the view. There is sometimes not enough room on the pavement for people (especially with prams) to walk by. Hopefully the council and University will take action before there is an accident!

The university needs to take more responsibility for student parking throughout the city.residents should have priority as theses are our homes and we pay council tax, whereas students are just passing through. I had to move from my old home as a result of no longer being able to park outside/near my home due to the increased no of student cars. They do not need their cars as a student, so it should be made harder for them to bring them to city. It's an ongoing problem throughout the city, and the universities and council need to address it.

Students are now daily parking in Moralee Close. Legitimate visitors and tradespeople are no longer able to park. They have no consideration for other road users or pedestrians. Parking on pavements is common and worse is parking on the corners of junctions.

Please stop parking in the lay-by next to the postbox it’s very annoying when people need to stop to post letters and there is nowhere to pull over.

The parking situation is terrible at the moment during term time. I’ve had a couple of close calls turning right out of the estate (particularly during icy weather) because of students parking on the pavement. I’ve contacted Northumbria university but they haven’t been able to help. I worry that there will be an accident soon. I have politely asked some students why they don’t use the car park and they replied that they don’t want to pay one pound a day. I do hope that we can work out a solution. Thank you
