We, the undersigned, believe that the plans by Wal-Mart to build a store at the site of the former Red Lion Hotel on Hayden Island will have a major impact on the local residents, traffic and businesses. Interstate 5 is beyond capacity and Hayden Island can not support the traffic generated by another Big Box.
We urge the members of the City Council to work to find a more suitable location for Wal-Mart and any other \"Big Box Stores\", and to look at alternative forms of development that develop community and create quality jobs.
I have requested a formal meeting with the city planning department to discuss the traffic impact studies for the Hayden Island site. I am currently compiling the specific resident concerns gathered here to present as evidence that the infrastructure cannot support this development. Expect a report once I have received a clear response regarding their next scheduled public hearing.

Keep big box retail out of residential areas. Hayden island needs small businesses not a traffic machine.
