The Hayden Island community and surrounding trade area supported Safeway for 57 years (1962 through 2018). The community was very disappointed with Safeway’s departure. The majority of residents, boaters, and businesses on the island as well as surrounding neighborhoods are interested in bringing back a neighborhood grocery store.

We believe that Hayden Island and the surrounding trade area is capable of supporting a grocery story on the island.

Sign our petition, thus agreeing that you are willing to support a neighborhood grocer on Hayden Island.

Please also type your zip code in the comment section. Grocers will be interested in the width of the market area around Hayden Island.

I was looking at the map again today and it just makes no sense that we have to drive over the bridge for basic fruit when there is so much space sitting empty right here. People keep telling me they miss the old store so much and honestly the silence from the developers is getting really frustrating but I am still sending out emails every single day.

I just saw the number hit one hundred and honestly it feels surreal because I remember staring at the screen when it was just me and my neighbor. People are actually writing their zip codes in the comments like I hoped they would and that data is going to be so useful when I finally find someone to talk to about bringing a store back here.

Many thanks for trying to encourage a grocer to come to the island. You might also point out the high volume of Washington residents who come to the island to shop at other stores for the benefit of no sales tax. This population is also a potential source of grocery sales.

My boat has been moored at Tomahawk Bay Marina for about 10 years now. We live in Richland, WA. When we come to Hayden Island we almost always bought our groceries at Safeway. I would like a replacement grocery store easy to get to. Thanks.

I have neighbors that are elderly and not having a grocery store close by has greatly impacted their quality of life as well as my own household that decided to go without a car due to the rise in cost of living here in Portland.

Being able to shop locally near where you live is an equality issue, not just a convenience issue. It is difficulty to attract and keep long-term renters and potential homeowners without basic necessities like a grocery store. My zip code is 97212.

There is a desperate need for a grocery store on the island! There are many people here that are senior citizens, and some don't drive or have the ability to leave the island to buy food! We have to rely on Target which is a "make believe" grocery store!

The I-5 is getting more and more congested and it is becoming harder for the Hayden Island residents to leave the island. We desperately need and be able to support a full fledged grocery store on the Island. Thank you. zip code: 97271

My family commits to spending most if not all our grocery dollars on an island grocery store.
