Hardship Registration for the Arabian Horse Association

I feel that anything to help promote our beloved breed and help save them is a win win, for the horses, the people who love them and the association.

This change is long overdue!

I think that is my old membership#, but I've moved 3times into smaller places and I'm not sure where my paperwork is, possibly packed away in my parents basement. I've been sick and unemployed for a few years and have not been able to afford to renew my membership. I have 24 horses that I'm desperately trying to take care of. I have also had a membership under my farm name in the past, Blue Moon Arabians. I've rescued some purebred Arabians from going to kill buyers at sale barns and also from some bad situations with individuals. I think many times kill buyers just throw away the paperwork they get with horses from sales. In my opinion I believe a horse's registration papers belong to the horse, just as our human birth certificates belong to us. I think if a horse can have it's DNA matched to DNA on file with the Registry and prove who the horse is, then it should have it's registration papers reissued. Obviously the previous owner has sold the horse, and as long as the new owner pays for the transfers, there should be no reason to not reissue a horse's registration papers. I have a few that I'd love to send DNA in on, but it would have to wait until my financial situation changes.

Whether or not people show their Arabs, having the ability to register their non-registered horses would be very beneficial to the owners and their horses. Knowing the heritage would be invaluable. Please give this careful consideration. Thank you.

I am in total favor and agreement with this. How wonderful it would be for so many horses and new horse owners.

There are many great horses that have Arabian sires or dams. I have rescued several whose papers were lost. They might have found much better homes if they had been eligible for registration.

Membership and participation at shows would certainly increase with this type of registration

Too many good Arabians are being tossed aside. As an AA rider, I have zero interest in ever breeding. To be able to show a rescued Arabian at AHA shows would increase my participation greatly.

I think this would be a great help to find homes for Arabian horses whose owners don't pass along the papers with the horse or don't bother to register the horse, both of which are incomprehensible to me as a registered horse has a far better chance of finding a good home. Since it's limited to geldings and spayed mares, there is no danger of the blood lines being compromised.

I would love for my Arabian Gelding to be registered, even though he does not have a registration “match.”

I rescued a gorgeous Arabian mare from slaughter no name just a # No history no birthday I want to DNA but don’t want to do it unless she is allowed her heritage!
