Please stand up and support the need for registration papers for rescued Arabians. Whether from a kill pen or saved off of a free Craigslist ad. AHA is suppose to be an ambassador for this majestic breed. Stand behind the people trying to save them!!

Please allow hardship registration for horses that have become separated from their documentation. Without papers these horses stand a much greater chance of slipping through the cracks and ending up slaughter bound.

Due to no fault of their own some Arabians find themselves in situations that separate them from their papers. When they are rescued by a loving person they should be allowed to procure their papers. Their heritage is theirs and should stay with them. Same thing as our birth certificate.

I was an AHA member back in the 1970s and showed Class A to Regional Championships until the 1980s. Now I run a Horse Sanctuary and would LOVE to see this pass; I have a purebred (paperless) Arabian gelding right now who could be National Champion Open Jumper, no question.

The Arabian Horse is a historical treasure and foundation to many breeds. The Animals must have access to their heritage the breeders signed up promising to protect the breed.

This seems like a wonderful idea as so many Arabians are sent into auction without their papers and are rescued from slaughter each day.

Not a current member but previously was for many years. I have 2 registered Arabians and just adopted an unregistered Arabian from a rescue. She is very obviously a purebred. Would love to see this pass and be able to register her.

I have an unpapered Arabian gelding, who I’d love to be able to show. And I wholeheartedly believe this would help other Arabians as well.

We need this, but it should not be limited to geldings and spayed mares. DNA can verify parentage and in cases where parentage is known on the animal there should be provisions made so that the mare can be registered.

This needs to happen but why does it have to be spayed mares only. There are rescued horses out there from abuse cases where the breeders are convicted of abuse who never registered some of the horses they bred. Registry has no provision for registering these horses. The ones that are registered can have the papers transferred based on the court ruling but the unregistered from the same herd from the same case cannot be registered. The horses are losing their heritage because of owner abuse. With DNA testing, there should be provision for these horses to also be registered. Especially in cases where the parentage is known as they came from a closed herd. I ask that an amendment be made to your proposal so that these horses can also go on to produce. DNA testing can verify the parentage, there is no reason that they cannot be registered other than the "rule book" says it has to have signature from the mare and stallion owners at the time of breeding. This has to change.

I have a rescued Arabian gelding According to his story and confirmed by two veterinarians he is 4 years old and he is undoubtedly a full Arabian. Would love to be able to register him with AHA as all my other horses are registered and I feel it's important to their history to have registration papers.

I have a stallion that I know both parents of. But because the sire's owner died and the husband refused to sign the transported shipped semen report, my guy was never registered. Would LOVE to finally get his papers to carry on his heritage. I'm all for this!!!

Am currently a AHA member just can’t remember number. This is a good idea however I feel the DNA results should need to come back 50% or higher Arabian blood in order to qualify.
