Hardship Registration for the Arabian Horse Association

This is the best way to deal with the horrible habit of breeders of dumping their herds. Let's work together and get these horses their rightful recognition. Thank you.

I do agree with the objective of this petition. It really isn't fair to the horse or to it's new owner not to be able show the horse in Arabian rated A shows. These horses have been through so much already either due to hardship or culling of herds. Some people just don't care and just rid of them any way possible. The horse shouldn't be paying the price for any of those things. Please make it possible for those horses to rejoin their heritage.

There are many horses abandoned or sent through auction that don't have papers. If they did their chances of being adopted or bought would highly increase. Please make a way that all horses can be registered.

Great idea! This will make previously unregistered horses more marketable, bring new members into the association and help promote our beloved breed.

I have a almost 2 yr old Arabian stud colt that I would love to be able to get registered. His Sire and Dam are both registered with DNA on file. He has amazing bloodlines. It's such a waste if I can't get him registered I will be getting him gelded.

I rescue Arabs in need and like this idea very much. A lot of people only want to adopt Arabians with proper papers to be allowed to compete in AHA events. Without this benefit, a lot of nice Arabs will continue to stand in Rescues un-adoptable.

I, for one, would love to see this go into effect. It would open the door for so many horses. Namely geldings.

Definitely! Limited papers that allows showing in half Arabian venues, not purebred unless 100% identified as such. Horses that have been relinquished to kill pens may have there papers reinstated to new owners if identity is proven.

I began rescuing Arabians and partbred Arabians in November 2016. So many are out there, needing homes; we need to do whatever we can to make them more attractive to potential families. Surely allowing them to be registered for competition (not breeding) purposes only would be a good move for the AHA (whose registrations are down, and whose show entries are down) and for these horses.

As an long time rescue, trainer and breeder of Arabian and Half Arabian horses, I firmly believe that the papers belong to the horse. It is their birth right. No owner has the right to keep that from the horse.

I wholeheartedly support a change in the rules that would allow for unregistered Arabians and half-Arabians to receive a hardship registration and any support which the AHA can provide in tracing lineages of these horses provided the requests come from a bona fide rescue organization or an owner other than a kill buyer or auction house. Registration papers increase the chance of the horse to be adopted or saved from the kill pen if the interested buyer recognizes the horse features and knows it has a chance to get this horse registered later. Too many lovely looking Arabians end up in bad situation and AHA has a moral obligation to take whatever measures it can take to help these horses.

The Arabian industry needs this!

I work with a lot of Arabian and half-Arabian rescues. This change could be a lifesaver for some really good horses that are thought of as less valuable only because their papers have been lost. Love the idea!

Yes! Your identity is everything. People who hold the papers back belonging to a horse are pretty much dooming it to be sold as meat. it's criminal.

Yes!! So many amazing horses are denied opportunity at no fault of their own by having lost their identity and ability to qualify for higher level shows. Our community loves our Arabians and should do whatever it takes to have their backs.

I have gotten several Arabians that were I horrendous condition. The owner on record transferred the papers on most of them but won't for one of them.
