Hardship Registration for the Arabian Horse Association

I am no longer a member, but would join again if I could register my horse

I own two rescues both had papers, however I see hundreds go thru with none and people pass them up. My daughter adopted one - no papers and is a purebred no doubt. Would love to see a way for people to get papers!!

I support this petition 100%! I believe this will help keep more precious Arabians out of the kill pens. It is not the fault of these horses, that they were not registered. Let's do everything we can to help assure they get the best possible lives they deserve.

This is an important step forward, and we've had a recent history of being extremely unattractive as an equine association. This needs to be overcome and this change will help.

I converted to Arabs from Appaloosas, which have the hardship clause, I have to agree with everything stated here, It saves lives, grows the membership, helps those starting out on small budgets, and is a win win situation all round!! you could always have separate classes for those horses, as well, so as not to offend big breeders who might not support it.

This would be so helpful in helping horses that have 'lost' their papers along the way and give people an incentive to give these horses a chance.

I own three heartship Aribians. I know the story I'd how they came from Jordan. I love my girls and never delt it fair but life goes on. But please I love this idea.

I took in a 17YO Morab gelding last year and was able to hardship register him with the Purebred Morab Horse Association, but not with the AHA. I had his parentage and both sire and dam were registered. I registered him to protect him in the event of tragedy, strictly to give him an identity if something should happen to me. I don't see what harm could come from registration under the noted circumstances. And the AHA can require membership and payment, which would help their numbers and finances.

I have a mare that papers would solidify her future if something were to happen to me and she should be rehomed.

We need to help these beautiful Arabians so that they have a future!

I rescued an Arabian gelding a few years ago. He is obviously well bred but was culled out with a few others that didn't make the cut and sent to auction with no info. Papers would be great so that I could show him. He has such potential!

I used to be a member. I grew up showing Arabians. I would love to get back into it and for my children to have the opportunity, Unfortunately (while fortunately for the horse), I rescued my mare so she has no papers.

I am no longer a member because of the things that happened to my horse with a trainer and vet and farrier who conspired to keep his condition from me at the US Nationals in 2005. I think this would be a great thing for the Arabians that get lost and then are no longer desireable because they have no value and no identity.

I no longer am a member of AHA, d/t the fact that they do not support the many arabians and half arabians that have been dumped in kill pens. I rescued a beautiful half arab this year, he definitely was shown and knows his stuff. I also own 2 full PB arabians. I also own 2 PB arabians.

Other breeds are allowing rescued horses to get their papers back if DNA proves their registration, etc. I personally know of registered horses having their papers tossed at the auction by killer buyers.

I'm a member but don't have my number. I can see that registering them in the existing data base would negatively affect the ability to follow blood lines. Why not asterisk m horses something like an "Arabian/Half of Unknown Parentage." Seems like a good way to help members and increase our membership
