About three years ago, around the time of Merle Kilgore's death, Hank Williams Jr. changed his touring band from the band that he had toured with for over 20 years to a new group of musicians. Although these musicians are talented individually, they are, as one writer put it, 'sub-par' as a GROUP band. It is my belief that Hank Williams Jr. is one of the most influential country music performers of all-time. I also believe that on any given day he is the most talented. It is also my belief that such talent should be backed by an exceptional band-- a band that is well-tuned, well-oiled, and in practice at performing together. The reason for the change to the new band is not relevant at this point. What IS important is that we bring back the band that complimented and rocked Hank's shows for almost 25 years. The old band was never given a reason why they wouldn't be touring with Hank anymore. If you are like me and you believe talent should be backed by excellence, then you should sign this petition. This petition will be delivered in conjunction with a letter asking Hank and his management to change back to his original band. We are not objecting to keeping many of the existing members, but we do believe the old Bama Band needs to return!
