Hands off our Bands!

We, the undersigned members of the global amateur radio community, urge regulators, governments, and telecommunications authorities worldwide to preserve amateur radio frequency allocations exclusively for non-commercial use.
Amateur radio plays a vital role in global emergency communications, technical innovation, education, and international goodwill. Our spectrum is a limited and irreplaceable resource — once lost to commercial interests, it will never be returned.
We are deeply concerned by proposals such as AST SpaceMobile’s plan to use portions of the 70 cm (UHF) amateur band for commercial satellite services. This not only threatens to create harmful interference with amateur operations but also sets a dangerous precedent for future commercial encroachment on all amateur allocations.
Allowing commercial entities to occupy amateur bands undermines decades of internationally recognized agreements, which protect these frequencies for experimentation, training, and public service.
We therefore call upon national regulators, the International Telecommunication Union, and all relevant governing bodies to:
Reject AST SpaceMobile’s request to use the 70 cm amateur spectrum for commercial purposes.
Prevent any future commercial use of frequencies allocated to the amateur radio.
Reaffirm the importance of amateur radio as a public, non-commercial resource serving the global community.
Preserve our bands. Protect our future. Keep amateur radio free from commercial interference.
