Hammond High Magnet School's staff and/or principal have created a new rule that only allows students to wear outerwear that is solid navy, purple, or white. However, the previous rule which was created by the Tangipahoa School District allowed students to wear outer garments of any color as long as they fully zip or button up. This new rule not only limits students but has resulted in some students not being able to wear any outerwear at all because they have purchased clothing that corresponds to the previous rule. Hammond Highs response however was to sell $5 sweaters. Students and parents should not have to pay for new outer clothing due to a rule that was enforced at the last minute. In addition this has put a financial strain on parents. Please sign this petition if you believe that this new rule is unnecessary and should not be enforced since it was not expressed to students before the school year began!
